I won't be sitting here at Blogger calmly drinking my coffee. I will either be anxiously checking for the bus while *calmly* urging Micah to hurry up already. Or (and this is my goal) I will just be waking the kids up & getting them breakfast. For the third year in a row we are the first stop for the big yellow bus. It seems kind of unfair that my littles have to get on the bus at 7am year after year. We are maybe two miles from the school and school doesn't start until 8:05. So then I get the people that tell me to quit complaining already & just drive them to school every day. Which is what I did last year since I had to take Ayla to preschool anyway. Let me tell you, the Mommy bus business gets old. Especially with a baby. Poor Kaia's nap was interrupted constantly last year. The good news is that my favorite workout class is at 8:30 on Mondays & Wednesdays. I just filled out the paperwork and requested that a Friday class be added as well. So, won't it be ideal if I'm able to work out three times a week and let my older kids sleep in at the same time? A perfect compromise as long as the bus garage insists on us being the first stop every year.
We took all (well most) of the school supplies in yesterday morning. In Ayla's classroom there was a notice telling us of some additional items that will be needed. Like there wasn't enough to begin with. Oh & after searching all over creation we finally found watercolor paints at Fleet Farm of all places. Check it out Jenny. The kids met their teachers & visited their classrooms. Micah continues to insist he's not excited to go back, but you should have seen him salivating over the shelves & shelves of books in his new room. You could have seen it if I'd have been organized enough to bring my camera along, but since I'm not you'll just have to use your imagination. Likewise when it comes to Ayla's "shyness" when she met her teacher. She is really not shy at all, but she acts so funny in some situations. I wanted to tell her teacher to ignore her first impression of Ayla, because it wasn't at all accurate.
I can hardly believe that next week I'll be home with just Kaia all day long. I just can't wrap my mind around it. I have lots of plans. The first item on the agenda is to grab a large trash bag & "clean" the kids' playroom. I'm so sick of not being able to walk in there. After that who knows.......The possibilities are endless!

That bus route deal is insane. We had the same deal growing up, kinda. (lived close to school.. but we were the last ones on.. and then the LAST ones off! I could have walked home from school 2x faster than the bus.)
I would have a terrible time with kids getting on the bus that early! No options with that here, as we have no bus service in town.
Enjoy your possibilities!!
That sounds like my kind of cleaning - with a trash bag!! Enjoy your time with Kaia - all all manner of possibilities. ;)
i'm excited for you! i love doing fling boogies or whatever flylady calls them...except i'm running out of stuff to fling...and that's a good thing!
I will check out Fleet Farm! Thanks for the tip!
As for the bus, my kids get on at 8:30 and we have trouble getting them out the door even then. That's just because I have a hard time dragging myself out of my warm bed. 7:00 is early! Brina's two youngest get on at 6:45 though...they even have to bring flashlights just to make it to the end of the driveway because it's so dark in the mornings for a few months.
Our kids never had to get on that early, but still sometimes had trouble getting out in time. In some ways I miss those yrs, but also glad it's done. If you're looking for something to do with ALL your spare time now... working with turkeys is great fun!! :) Just ask Neisha!
is there another mom near by that drives her kids to school? maybe you guys could share driving
bummer on the driving them to school part, but I would love to get a workout in 3 days a week. I've been imagining only having 2 to deal with...I can handle that I think :D
hey mindy,
i'm in the same boat as you this year...just tyler and i at home-with P in 1st and J in K. i have plans for him and i too! too bad we weren't closer-we could have non-crazy playdates with just 2 children!
our kids get on at 7 AM as well, and we are NOT the first stop...and school starts at 8:05 as well. our district has bus routes that boggle the mind-with only about 13 buses that bus kids between the elem, interm and jh/hs. some kids have to switch buses at the schools too. (glad mine aren't included in that)
yes we'll be at hector. see you there!
when is hector? enjoy your new found quasi freedom. teagan and i aren't getting much done so far!
hector is in 2 weeks. i hope that with baby still taking 2 naps a day i'll get a lot accomplished. not sure how it will be when she's awake though. she is used to playing with the kids!
