Annoying Commercial Alert

Maybe I'm a day late and a dollar short, but I just watched this commercial. I guess the company has since pulled the commercial, but it still makes me mad. Does it bother anyone else out there?

Oh, & I know there is probably a much, much better way to link this to my blog. As of yet, I haven't had the time & patience to sit down & try to figure it out. Maybe one of you can teach me next time we're together. Shannon? Wanna teach me some stuff when we see you next month?

I hadn't seen that until you posted it...I think THEY are the crazy ones!! "Wearing" Jacob when he was a baby and now Lia has never caused me any pain. And to suggest that Mom's are "koo koo". WOW!! The makers of Motrin sure did themselves a huge disservice by posting this particular add!

I agree with Cheri. Also, how is wearing your baby now that much different than being 9 months pregnant and "wearing" your baby. Not much but a few extra pounds.
Maybe we should email Motrin and let them know how we feel.
Makes me think of those people who bash, well maybe not bash but make a deal of mom's who nurse in public. Get a life already! Think of it as a bottle attached to mom's chest.
Anyway, I'm off my soapbox.

When you are on the page of something you want to link, "copy" the address, then "copy/paste" into your post. Then clink the little "link" button on your post header, & copy/paste again into that. (make sure you don't duplicate the htt: part. You should have your link there. It took me a while to figure it out.

I just went to Motrin's website and they've got an apology up on their home page.

I left them some feedback on my feelings about their ad.

I couldn't believe that ad even passed the board room! From what I understand, the head of advertisement is the mother of 3 children!!

They really missed the mark here.

Anyways, it's nice to see other people that like babywearing. Most people up here look at me like I have two heads when they see me wearing my little girl. Lol.

Hmmm, I hesitate to comment because I see I'm in the vast minority here. I watched it and didn't think it was really all that bad. It was just saying that if you have back pain from it, they know of some relief. Granted, breast-feeding mothers shouldn't take Motrin if they can help it because it gets in the milk. But other than that, I didn't have a problem with it.

@Jenny - no rotten tomato missiles from me...(and probably no one else either). The part that didn't set well with me was the insinuation that all mothers are "koo koo" all the time – at least that’s how I took it. This is another thing I love about a blog...we can have differences of opinions, say so in our comments, and if we have an open enough mind we can see the other person's perspective too. Kudos to you for putting your 2 cents in when it wasn’t what everyone else was saying.

@Jenny too!
Funny, When I saw your comment, I thought basically the same thing as Kristen said! :*) We don't all have to agree, but no point of being rude to each other!

right. the thing that bugged me was the overall condescending tone of the ad. it was subtle i agree, but it was there. has everyone seen the counter ad about fake boobs? now that was funny.

The J's said...

Yes!! Dalayna has that one posted on her blog too! *laugh*!!

See, what I have a problem with is the "they say" and "Supposedly" and "In theory" and "It totally makes me look cool and like a real mom" comments they stuck in there.

Yes, you can get back pain from it. Especially if you have a bad back like me.

I don't think they ment to have it come off like it did. But that's what happend.

I think to market to moms they would have been better off showing a mom dealing with her kid crying, whining, teething... all the stuff that really makes you want motrin!! lol.

Book over. :D

Would you mind posting a link to the fake boob spoof? That I'd like to see...before I had kids I was a clinical trial coordinator and worked on several breast implant studies, hence my curiosity about the add. ;)
