We just had a talk about the kind of morning and evening we'd like to have & it seems like it helped. He picked up his stuff last night and right now he is outside WAITING for the bus. Wow, that's amazing compared to the mornings we were having - running around, yelling, crying, barely getting to the bus.
Sounds like mornings here. And, like you, we have a coat rack kid-height so they can hang their own coats. Novel idea, huh? They don't get it. Rebecca's backpack, snowpants, coat, mittens, boots and miscellanious items get dumped right inside the door.
Hmmmm......I think our after school routine needs a bit of work.

It's just so much easier to dump than to take the time to hang up. I suppose we were the same way as kids.
