Things To Do This Summer

1) Take the kids to the DQ with their pj's on, some sultry evening.
2) Make homemade ice-cream every week.
3) Have a family day at the beach.
4) Sleep in a tent in our yard.
5) Catch fireflies.
6) Take the kids to a drive-in movie.
7) Have lunch picnics in the park.
8) Run through the sprinkler.
9) Have lots of family game nights.
10) Pick strawberries.
11) Let the kids each have their own space in the garden to grow what they want.
12) Go fishing up North.
13) Roast lots of marshmallows.
14) Spend a week in Iowa visiting family & friends & barbecuing every night.
15) Listen to the cicadas when we're in Iowa.

Here's the list of what I want to do this summer. I'll add Craig & the kids' ideas when they get home. What are you looking forward to doing this summer?

*Ayla would like to go to the bear park she heard someone at the Y talking about.

* Micah wants to go visit Uncle Walter & Auntie Julie.

* My rather unimaginative husband says he wants to work outside.

about the same as you. are there any drive in movies around there? I always thought that would be neat to do.

yep there are a couple left in MN. there is one off of 94 & one near hastings. if you guys are around at all this summer we'll have to plan a family date at the drive-in!

add coming to see us on your list! anyway, i'd like to go to St. Croix beach this summer. If we get up to MN and can fit that in I'd let ya know!
I'd also love to get to the MN state fair again sometime..probably dream on for that one cuz it's not at a convenient time for us..but the dream is pretty good as well!

Don't you miss the cicadas? I do. Growing up in Missouri we had tons of them, rather a nice sound to go go to sleep by. To bad we don't get down there in the summer more often.

yes, to me the cicadas are the ultimate sound of summer. i suppose to ppl that have never heard them they sound kinda strange, but i LOVE that sound!

Lots of the things on your list are on ours, too. We'll be spending lots of time at the local aquatic center and going to the state fair. Also planning a trip to Minneapolis for a family reunion in July. Unfortunately, we just found out Craig can't get off work (and it's HIS family!), so I'll be going up solo with the boys... ride with his parents. Kind of a bummer as this was going to be our family vacation. *sigh*

Happy Mother's Day, Mindy!

Wow! Your post is inspiring to me! Too often i think"well, we've got the whole summer to do this/that," and before you know it, it's gone!I think i need to write down some ideas too! We'll prob. be spending alot of time in the parks, pools, and hopefully in our family's boat. We may even try camping with Ava-we'll see! We'd love to plan a camping expedition w/u all!

Love the cicadas too.
I like your list! Summer gets away much to fast, and then I look back and think "but what did we do"?
#1 on our list is to go family biking. We finally all have bikes for the first time. We have one convention within a couple weeks after school is out, so somehow "summer" can't start till that's over, and another convetnion right after school starts in the fall, so it always seems like our summers are extra full
