Okay, so strep is going through the school again & it's been in Micah's room specifically this past week. I sent him to school today even though my gut was telling me he was sick. He didn't have a temp & of course he was telling me he was fine. He made it until 10:30 before the school nurse called. She wants me to get him tested for strep. I don't want to. He just had it and was on antibiotics a month ago! I'm giving myself one day to try and kick it (whatever IT is) naturally. We are using colloidal silver, immupower and I'm even trying to do the allergy clearing I've been learning about. When I do that I'm "treating" him for a virus. So, wish me luck - we'll see if any of this witchcraft works!

Avoiding Antibiotics

if it does, let us know. i too try to avoid antibiotics if I can. I like the collidal silver but if there's others that work too, I'm all for that.
I was once able to clear up Nolan's pink eye without meds from the doctor.
Good for you! We are SO programmed that we just can't be sick ~ so immediately pop pills. Doesn't always have to be that way. Hope he is feeling better soon.
I might have to turn you into the Department of Human Services for child abuse for not giving your child medicine.
ha, don't worry seth i took him in to get a throat culture. it was positive. i did not get the prescription filled though - maybe tomorrow.
I try to avoid antibiotics, too, but I don't mess with strep throat. I hope he feels better soon. Poor little man.
did it work??? Garrett just finished his 2nd go around in antibiotics. it must be a tough strep strain. the poor boy was getting to be skin and bone. i couldn't bear to see him not eat so i bit the bullet and put him on antibiotics against my better judgement. i never thought you were so much like me , Mindy, but your thought processes sound a lot like mine!
martha - he definitely seemed better than the first time he had strep. he was eating more and had a lower fever, but like you said i noticed he was getting skinnier & he's already small! also, i didn't know how long he'd be contagious & didn't want to be infecting other people. so he is on the antibiotics again. i'm giving him mannatech's gi pro too - hoping that will make his gut healthier.
I don't do antibiotics either unless "last resort". If you can catch it right away, & be on top of it then I've always had better luck. I quit doing the "A's" about 16 years ago, and between all 12 of the kids we've only had to be on them about 3x in those years.
I use combinations of vit C, EmergenC, Echaneisia, goldenseal, E-oil, T-tree oil, for throats & ears. The only thing it generally takes longer for "natural", and was easier when we homeschooled & I didn't have to worry about "missing too much".
