Sisters

Last night I was thinking about the girls and something really dawned on me. I finally got it in a way I never had before. My girls both have something I always wanted and never got. A sister. I'm quite sure they will learn to push each others buttons. I only hope they will also be the best of friends. I hope that as time goes on they will truly appreciate the gift they have. Each other.

i'm sure it's good for boys to have a brother too. but, you gotta stop eventually. i have to comfort myself with the fact that micah should have a good understanding of women anyways!

What a sweet photo of them!! It will be fun to watch them growing up together. I am sure Kaia will worship her big sister, if it is anything like our girls:-)

they look like they'll have lots of fun..and be fun enough for Micah too..they don't seem too "sissy" yet!

ugh...you would have to go off and write this post wouldn't you!! ;) I never had a sister either, and never really wanted one. I was quite happy/satisfied with my one brother - until I got into my 30's. I still love him to pieces, nothing's changed there, but I'm realizing the value of a sister now that I'm watching my Mom and her sisters as they get older. Notice I said "older", NOT "old"!! But they are dealing with an old mother (she's in her 90s so that qualifies!) and all that goes with that. I see their relationships, what it means to them now, and I realize I will never have that. I see my girl cousins and the relationships they have with their sisters. It hurts. I have great girlfriends that are like sisters and I'm very thankful for that, but there's nothing like a real sister. So...now we have Lia. We are quite satisfied with our little family of 4 - one boy, one girl, and I'm happy. But every now and then something pulls at my heart and I think it would be so nice for Lia to have a sister. Of course it would be nice for Jacob to have a brother, but boys and girls are different. Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE fan of little boys and VERY defensive about the wonderfulness of boys, but I know what sister relationships are (only as an observer) and I would give the world for Lia to have that.

I had 3 sisters and always wanted a brother(Preferably an older one with cute friends) I am a little sad for Brookelyn that she'll never know that bond, but I think the boys need brothers more than she needs a sister :)

@Shannon - I'm sorry?? you're welcome?? good luck?? ;)

@Mindy - I know, I know, it does seem like 3 is the new 2, but $2 doesn't equal $3 and somehow you have to pay for those babies - and I don't think they get less expensive as they get older! ;)

Having a sister is so great. I don't know what I would do without mine sometimes and I am truly glad I had three girls - they will be the best of friends some day!

I can't imagine life without my sisters. I have 1 brother too, but it's totally different. My middle sister & I fought pretty bad alot of the time growing up, but it's having her close now that really counts!

What am I chopped liver???

Mindy said...

no, of course not seth. but we didn't get to be close until we were older. i guess i just always wanted a sister. you always want what you can't have, right?

Actually I don't think I ever thought about whether or not I wished I had a brother. I guess I was just happy and content to have an older sister, despite the daily verbal and physical abuse I endured. Humpgh!

oh, you're funny, seth.

wow- when I saved this to comment on how beautiful and sweet the pic is and that I love my own sis dearly and am happy for her... I had no idea how interesting the comments would be when I finally got over here! We all make our own space and way with what we have I guess. And- I do love my sis a lot!

I would have to agree that sisters are great. I always thought that girls needed a sister more than boys needed brothers. Until I met my husband. He grew up with 3 sisters and always longed for a brother. He did learn a lot about girls (to my benefit) but never had anyone to wrstle and play football and such. And all of his cousins had brothers. At least he had his cousins. We cant all have 2boys and 2 girls. Thats what I grew up with. (Im Brian B's sister) Right now Im just happy to have 2 healthy girls. Your kids are adorable.
